
The event scheduled for Esse (Cameroon) will focus on the preservation of community seed shelters.
The sixth edition of the Central African Peasant Seed Fair (FOSPAC 6) will be held from February 28 to March 1, 2026, in Esse, in the Mefou-et-Afamba Department, Central Region of Cameroon. The event is being held under the patronage of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, in partnership with the municipality of Esse. The theme chosen for this edition is: « Community seed shelters, a crucible for preserving local genetic heritage: what involvement should the municipalities have? » According to official sources, six seed shelters have already been created, and 12 more are in the process of being created. So many initiatives which are part of the perspective of revalorizing peasant seeds.
According to the Executive Secretary of the Sustainable Development Actors Network (RADD), Marie Crescence Ngobo, the activities will include exhibition fairs, exchanges of peasant seeds, thematic presentations, panel discussions, cultural events, traditional food competitions and field visits. Participants in this major event will include stakeholders from the rural world, decentralized local authorities, farmers, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), researchers, media, producer organizations, etc.
